Buckeye Furnace Fall Festival - October 4, 10am to 4pm
BUCKEYE FURNACE FALL FESTIVAL
The annual Buckeye Furnace Fall Festival will be held at the Buckeye Furnace Historical Site on Buckeye Furnace Park Road, east of Wellston, Saturday, October 4th, 2014. This annual event is put on by the Friends of Buckeye Furnace, who manages the historic site for the Ohio Historical Society.
The festivities include something for everyone: good food, entertainment, lots of area vendors displaying and selling their wares and the Buckeye Furnace Company Store Gift Shoppe.
As the festival begins, so does the entertainment. Lively music will be provided by festival favorites, the Dee and Dallas band, who will perform at regular intervals throughout the day. The children will love playing and participating in games throughout the festival, including a pie-eating contest for kids and one for adults. Don’t forget the apple peeling contest (bring your own knives)and a tall tales contest this year. All tall tales must be PG rated.
Of course, any festival means food, and all will be treated to a rewarding menu. Pulled pork sandwiches, delicious beans and cornbread, hot dogs, slag cookies, water, soft drinks and coffee will complete the Bill of Fare.
There will be a Pie/Cake auction, as well as a split-the-pot and a Chinese auction.
The members of the Jackson Historical Society are looking forward to seeing you at the festival where you can walk the furnace grounds and examine the reconstructed nineteenth century charcoal iron furnace, take a wagon ride with Pat, Noah and Mike Hill. It's wonderful entertainment for the whole family and the proceeds go to the Friends of Buckeye Furnace.
Bring your lawn chairs and spend the day with us.
Side Note: We will still have our bigger and better Halloween event on, October 24th and 25th.
